Summer crowds and long rebuilds
Manhattan Beach gets crowded in summer, and parking near downtown and the beach is tight; post orders for events there focus on arrivals and cars. Rebuilds can run for many months, so job site coverage usually combines an off-duty officer at the riskiest times with patrol checks or camera towers, remotely viewed by LDG, the rest of the time.
What LDG handles
Off-duty police officers are sworn officers working private assignments on their own time, under your post orders and their own department’s off-duty rules.
