Who it’s for

Built for the people who run security

You already know you want police at the door. What you don’t want is calling around for officers, chasing timesheets and paying ten people. That’s the part LDG takes off your plate.

Venue & label security heads

Concert halls, clubs, record labels and listening events that want experienced off-duty police officers at the door and in the room.

Event & tour producers

Premieres, launches, private parties and one-night events that need officers booked, briefed and on time.

Studio & production managers

Recording studios, sound stages and shoots where talent, gear and gates need watching.

Property & retail managers

Retail centers, offices and mixed-use properties with busy hours, theft or trespassing.

Why sworn officers

Authority people recognize on sight

A guard asks. A police officer is recognized. Off-duty officers bring police training, experience making split-second calls, and a presence that changes how a crowd behaves before anything starts.

  • Peace officer authority and training. Sworn officers trained in de-escalation, crowd control and use of force.
  • Visible by design. We post officers where they are seen first: entrances, lines, load-in docks and parking.
  • Calm under pressure. Handling disputes and emergencies is already part of their job.
  • They speak the language. When on-duty police are needed, your officer already knows how to hand off the call.

The best night at a venue is the one where nothing happens.

Why visible presence works

The research is clear: being seen prevents crime

Decades of police research point the same way. When patrol is visible at the places where trouble happens, crime and disorder drop, and the benefit tends to spread to the blocks around it.

2×

Double the patrol, half the disorder

In a randomized trial across 110 Minneapolis hot spots, doubling police patrol presence cut total crime calls by 6–13%, and observed disorder was only half as common.

10–15min

Short, visible stops work

Patrol stops had to reach about 10 minutes to create lasting deterrence after the officer left. 11 to 15 minutes was the sweet spot.

Hot-spot patrols reduce crime

A review of 65 studies found 62 of 78 tests reported real drops in crime and disorder, with benefits spreading to nearby areas rather than moving around the corner.

Case study

An empty police car cut speeding by over 40%

Researchers at LSU Medical Center in New Orleans parked an unmanned police car beside a road with a history of speed-related crashes and measured more than 660,000 passing drivers.

With nobody inside, the car alone dropped the share of drivers over 45 mph from 72.0% to 41.0%. When it was taken away, speeding went right back to 67.5%.

Presence works. Real presence keeps working.

In the same study, the effect slowly faded as drivers figured out nobody was in the car: speeding rose from 27.2% to 47.4% over ten days. An empty car is a bluff. An off-duty police officer at your door is not.

FAQ

Off-duty police officers: common questions

What is the difference between an off-duty police officer and a security guard?

A security guard is licensed by the state to protect property. An off-duty police officer is a sworn peace officer with police academy training, street experience and a presence people recognize. LDG provides both, and we will tell you which fits your event.

Can off-duty officers make arrests?

Off-duty officers are sworn peace officers. What they can do on a private assignment follows California law and their own department’s rules for off-duty work, and we brief every post with that in mind.

Will the officers be in uniform?

No. LDG provides off-duty police officers, not uniformed law enforcement. Tell us the look you need, such as business attire or clearly marked security attire, and we will confirm it before the event.

How fast can you staff an event?

Send us the date, hours, location and headcount and we will confirm availability in writing. We work to fill short-notice requests, and the earlier you reach out, the more options you have.

How much do off-duty police officers cost?

Rates are quoted per event, based on the number of officers, the hours and the assignment. Call or text (442) 288-6642 for a quote.

Do I have to deal with each officer separately?

No. LDG vets, schedules and pays the officers. You get one point of contact and one invoice.

Can you add security guards or executive protection?

Yes. LDG also provides licensed armed and unarmed security, executive protection and the AI Surveillance Vehicle, all under one contract.

Where do you provide off-duty officers?

Across Los Angeles County, including Hollywood and West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Studio City, Santa Monica and Los Angeles.
