Where unarmed guards work in Malibu
- Fire rebuild and construction sites. Gate control for crews and deliveries during the day and an officer on site nights and weekends, when materials, tools and equipment are most exposed.
- Beach homes and canyon estates. A posted officer while owners are away, during renovations, after a nearby incident or while a house is being shown or sold.
- Private community gates. Gatehouse and roving coverage for gated beach communities and private roads, working with the association’s rules and resident lists.
- Estate events and weddings. Guest arrival, parking and driveway control on PCH and canyon properties, where parking is tight and the road is busy.
- Retail centers and restaurants. Visible coverage for shops and dining near the Malibu Country Mart, the Malibu Lumber Yard and the Trancas area, including evenings and holiday weekends.
Rebuild sites need a different plan
An empty lot with a fence is easy to walk onto, and a house under construction holds appliances, fixtures, wiring and tools long before anyone moves in. On a Malibu rebuild we agree with the owner or general contractor on which hours need an officer, who is allowed on site, how deliveries are checked and who the officer calls when something looks wrong. The officer keeps a log of every shift, so the builder can see who came and went.
When a full-time guard is more than a site needs, we can cover the gaps with mobile patrol visits or a solar camera tower in Malibu that LDG views remotely, and keep an officer for the riskiest hours.
What the officer does on a Malibu post
An LDG unarmed officer is a private security officer, not law enforcement. The job is to be present, watch, control access and report. On a beach or canyon property that means checking gates, doors and the perimeter on a schedule, keeping the driveway clear, greeting expected visitors and turning away people who do not belong. If something needs a law enforcement or fire response, the officer calls for it and documents what happened. Because many Malibu owners are not on site, we agree up front how and when the officer updates you.
Unarmed or armed in Malibu?
Most rebuild sites, vacant homes and events in Malibu are well served by unarmed officers. If a family is dealing with a specific threat, or a property has had repeated break-ins, we will talk through armed security in Malibu and recommend it only when the risk supports it.
Scheduling and quotes
Malibu schedules are often nights and weekends for construction, full-time while a family travels, or a single shift for an event. Shifts have a four-hour minimum. Pricing depends on the hours, the number of officers and the length of the assignment; ongoing coverage usually costs less per hour than a one-day job, and holiday rates vary. California requires every security guard to hold a guard card from the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services, and LDG officers work under our PPO License #122869. For every LDG service on this stretch of coast, see our Malibu & Pacific Palisades page.
